Located in northernmost Gifu Prefecture, the Hida area (Hida City, Shirakawa Village) contains the famous peaks of the North Alps, with mountains and forests filled with rich nature that is home to a variety of animals and plants.
This area is represented by the Forest of North Hida, which contains Amou Prefectural Natural Park, a registered Gifu  Brand New Treasure, as well as Amou Marsh, Ikegahara Marsh and Fukado Marsh, which compose what is known as the "Three Marsh Corridor."
This area also features the largest remaining primeval forest of beech trees in the Chubu region. Each forest overflows with life force and rich lush greenery. More than anything, the forests possess a gentle feeling which fills the hearts of visitors.
Please visit the Forest of North Hida to focus your five senses and use your whole being to feel seasonal aspects of the forest, from colors, aromas, sounds of animals and texture of old tree trunks.
